As an Associate Portfolio Manager, you will also have an understanding of trading, portfolio construction, and risk management within the money market sector. This is a fast paced position that demands the ability to meet crucial deadlines throughout the day.
What you’ll accomplish:
- Working with Portfolio Manager in implementing the portfolio strategy and process.
- Articulating and maintaining a robust and consistent investment process in managing the portfolios.
- Collaborating with the centralized research team and the global resources within Columbia Threadneedle to generate investment ideas and maintain a list of analyst-preferred investment securities.
- Responsibility for portfolio monitoring (includes news flow, research, conference calls, modeling, etc.) and compliance (sizing of positions, allocation to maintain proper diversification, making sure portfolios maintain proper risk parameters, etc.), with the opportunity to increase accountability for investment performance and client communications
- Work with external partners on executing trades and communicating portfolio needs.
- Ad hoc support of the greater Short Duration team (reporting, trading, allocations, etc.)
- Ad hoc support of the Stable Value PM (reporting, investment guidelines, contracts, compliance, liquidity management, etc.)
- Opportunity to deepen understanding of money markets, bond allocation and portfolio risk management.
- Collaborative, team-based environment where you will be able to engage with top tier research and portfolio management colleagues throughout the day. As well as engage with clients and company management teams.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in investments.
- Ability to employ fundamental fixed income analysis in a portfolio context with strong analytical skills.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with external broker dealers in striving for best execution and pricing for our clients.
- Ability to synthesize information in a timely manner and reach a firm conclusion.
- Ability to work and contribute effectively both as a team player and individually.
- Proven skills in using or quickly learning to use new tools such as Microsoft Excel, Bloomberg, Aladdin or other analytical systems.
- Achievement or progress towards a CFA is relevant though not required.
