Position Summary

The Emerging Markets Equity Research Analyst makes investment recommendations on equity and related securities within assigned industry sectors and conducts in-depth reviews of industry structure, competitive analysis & company specific characteristics. The Equity Research Analyst will work closely with Portfolio Managers to generate new research and ideas and monitor existing holdings. The source of our investment returns is security selection achieved through bottom-up fundamental research. Investment research is guided by Boston Partners “Three Circle” process which evaluates business fundamentals, valuation, and business momentum.

Major Responsibilities

  • Research and make investment recommendations on equity securities within the assigned financial sectors.
  • Conduct comprehensive research on industries and companies, read and analyze materials published by the emerging market companies, and actively participate in due diligence meetings with those company stakeholders.
  • Conduct in-depth review of industry structure, competitive analysis, company specific characteristics, and monitor existing holdings.
  • Work closely with Portfolio Managers to generate new research for financial investment strategies portfolio holdings.
  • Identify changes in business momentum and communicate an appropriate action plan to Portfolio Managers, which is essential for ensuring the health of investment practices.
  • Develop and write research reports and publications for presentations to management and shareholders.
  • Complete financial modeling using advanced Excel to forecast a company or sector's financial performance, which includes creating charts, dashboards and supporting materials in support of investment strategies.
  • Travel and attend industry and investment conferences to meet company management team and representatives in Asia, Latin America, and Europe.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Mathematics or Statistics, or closely related field; plus 2 years of experience in the position offered or related occupation working in investment banking, management consulting and private equity.
  • Must have 2 years of experience in:
    Building financial models;
    Managing due diligence process to understand an industry and company; and
    Conducting in-depth reviews of industry structure, competitive analysis, and company specific characteristics to make investment recommendations.
  • Must travel domestically to attend conferences 1 trip per year and internationally to Asia, Latin America, and Europe approximately 1-2 trips every quarter.
  • Must work 100% on site, no hybrid or telecommuting allowed.
