General:
Founded in 2016, Cognetio is a boutique asset management firm located in St. Louis, MO. Our primary goal is to support advisors throughout Missouri and Illinois through portfolio management and analysis. Since inception, Cognetio has rapidly expanded and now serves over 40 advisors with over 1,000 clients.

Cognetio is looking for a suitable candidate to assume the position of Financial Research Associate (FRA). The firm is experiencing significant growth and requires the focused execution of a suitable candidate with a strong skill set of portfolio construction, technical analysis, investment research, account management and a strong desire to be part of a young organization that is driving exponential growth.

The FRA will be responsible for supporting Advisors (and Regional Reps) in portfolio design, implementation, portfolio rebalancing, trading, research, strategic thinking, and ongoing rep support. This position will require investment knowledge/experience, fundamental concepts in portfolio management, trading experience, industry knowledge, and solid communication skills that will lead to heavy advisor interaction. This candidate will be working in a team environment. This candidate should possess all necessary qualifications with the eventual development into their CFA Designation.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities)

Portfolio Execution & Operations

  • Responsible for all trading in client’s portfolios
  • Monitor drift and responsible for portfolio rebalancing
  • Support all necessary proposals leveraging the tools and developed

processes

  • Collaborate with advisors during the portfolio construction processes leveraging existing models / sleeves to accurately produce a portfolio that

matches the client’s risk profile

  • Coordinate recommended service activities with advisor

Portfolio Research & Design

  • Review current investment selections and portfolio construction to ensure the required standards of the Cognetio Investment Team are maintained
  • Work with our external investment resources to develop new investment recommendations and strategies
  • Design portfolio sleeves that are consistent with Cognetio philosophies and outlooks
  • Present investment recommendations during required meetings and communications with the Cognetio Investment Team
  • Stay abreast with all current events and market movements to ensure communications / philosophies are consistent

Team Knowledge

  • Work with partners and Wealth Management Team to stay current with industry standards and product sponsor initiatives
  • Cross train with Client Service Associate (CSA) and be able to help with essential CSA functions including, but not limited to, paperwork and proposal generation

Organization

  • Assist the Manager of Cognetio in processing and implementing necessary technology solutions and process improvements

Qualifications/Requirements:

Required

  • BS degree in Business, Economics, or Finance – or equivalent.
  • Certified Series 7 or the ability to obtain within 4 months
  • 1-3 years work experience in the financial services industry
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge and execution of the portfolio construction process
  • CFA charter holder or significant progress towards a CFA charter
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally in teams

Desired:

  • Advanced degree in business, management, or finance (MBA / MS)
  • Strong communications skills – can effectively present complex ideas in a simple manner
  • Excellent Project management, leadership, presentation, and investment / analytic skills
  • Significant knowledge of industry trading software

Pay: From $1.00 per hour
