Responsibilities

The Investment Analyst is responsible for assisting with co-investment due diligence, performance and benchmarking analysis, processing portfolio company data, preparing investment memos and summaries, and additional support with all functions of the asset class investment process. In addition, the Investment Analyst will produce quarterly and annual reports on the asset class portfolio. The Investment Analyst reports to the Senior Portfolio Manager-PE.

80% - Assists Senior Portfolio Management in all aspects of the due diligence process on potential investment managers and investment recommendations

  • Assists Senior Portfolio Manager with quantitative and qualitative co-investment level diligence
  • Produces fundamental analysis of portfolio companies for use in co-investment recommendations
  • Conducts performance and benchmarking analysis on potential co-investments and occasionally fund investments
  • Participates in and conducts reference calls on potential investments
  • Processes amendments and legal documents using SBA's internal system
  • Assists with the closing process for new co-investments
  • Supports the preparation of all investment memos and summaries
  • Contributes to the preparation of the quarterly co-investment report
  • Assists with sourcing new co-investment and fund opportunities
  • Attends industry conferences and/or training opportunities to improve analytical skills


10% - Produces Private Equity Asset Class reporting

  • Produces quarterly and annual reports for asset class and manager performance, asset class and manager exposures by sector, geography, etc., and asset class and manager performance vs. benchmarks
  • Produces Weekly Update report for use at weekly staff meeting
  • Coordinates responses to all information requests
  • Maintains a list of all investment opportunities received and their status
  • Produces ad-hoc reports at the request of Senior Portfolio Management and the SIO-Private Equity
  • Works with asset class software and other information packages, e.g., Backstop, Cambridge, Burgiss, eFront, etc., as necessary
  • Attends annual meetings, as needed


05% - Assists the day-to-day operations of the Private Equity asset class

  • Serves as backup in processing capital calls and distributions in the absence of the asset class Administrative Assistant


05% - Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Five years of related experience. A postsecondary degree may be used as an alternative for years of direct experience; 2 years for an associate’s degree, 4 years for a bachelor’s degree, 6 years for a master’s degree, 7 years for a professional degree, or 9 years for a doctoral degree.

Preferences:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in finance, mathematics, accounting, economics, statistics, business, or a related field.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) or other related recognized professional designation
  • Strong analytical background
  • Strong computer literacy with emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Word and database applications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of financial concepts and theories and background in their application
  • Knowledge of industry standards, policies, and procedures
  • Knowledge of basic statistical processes and probability distributions
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel Skills
  • Ability to analyze reports and data
  • Ability to perform at a high level in a team environment
  • Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally

Hiring Range: $64,155 - $80,220
