The Senior Associate, Investment Strategy works closely with Corporate Development, Life & Annuity Pricing, Risk and the broader Investments team to develop investment strategies for new transactions and the in-force portfolio. This role plays a critical part in aligning firm strategy with evolving market dynamics, regulatory frameworks, and growing new business. The role will support portfolio construction, research and development, and asset-liability management across Fortitude's balance sheet. This role will be based in our Jersey City, NJ office on a hybrid basis.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead the development of Strategic Asset Allocations (SAA) by running and refining portfolio optimization models

  • Evaluate the performance of public and private asset classes, macroeconomic trends, and risk factors to inform asset-liability management (ALM) strategies for both new and existing portfolios

  • Conduct due diligence and underwriting of fixed income and alternative investment mandates managed by external asset managers

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Actuarial Pricing, Corporate Development, and banking partners to assess new reinsurance opportunities and align investment strategies accordingly

  • Perform scenario and sensitivity analyses to evaluate market stress events, assess capital initiatives, and support risk and capital modeling, including cash flow testing and economic valuation

  • Work closely with internal teams such as Portfolio Management, Treasury, and Risk to ensure seamless execution of investment strategies

  • Design and enhance analytical tools to improve investment decision-making and optimize risk-adjusted relative value opportunities

  • Prepare and contribute to high-impact presentations and reports for internal and external stakeholders, including the Executive Committee and Board of Directors

  • Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships across the firm to support strategic alignment and execution

What You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or financial discipline

  • Master's degree in a quantitative or financial discipline, and/or CFA is preferred

  • Strong analytical capabilities

  • Excellent documentation habits, oral and written communication, and presentations skills including the ability to distill complex ideas into simple explanations

  • Knowledge of financial markets, investment products, fixed income valuations

  • Knowledge of ALM, insurance products, and financial modeling experience

  • Knowledge of Bloomberg and advanced Excel skills is preferred. Familiarity with Python, R, Matlab, SQL is a plus

  • Prior experience working within an insurance or reinsurance general account a plus
