Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC seeks an Associate, Research in New York, New York

Author research reports for initiations of stock coverage, analysis of data, earnings results, industry news, and thematic topics. Create and maintain earnings, valuation, and industry models. Collaborate with team members to review and analyze new regulations, industry trends, economics, value creation fronts, and impact from global dynamics. Engage with institutional investors to discuss companies under coverage and investment theses. Share industry expertise on sector developments and analyze implications for companies under coverage. Leverage client relationships and build new relationships with investor relations personnel and companies under coverage. Conduct industry diligence and primary research through surveys, expert conference calls, and various channel checks. Research macroeconomic and microeconomic conditions, along with company fundamentals. Collects and analyses financial information to make investment recommendations on stocks in specific sectors. Telecommuting permitted up to 1 days per week.

Salary: Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $225,000 and $225,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.

Requirements

Requires a Master’s in Economics, Finance, or a related degree and three (3) years of experience in the position offered or three (3) years as an Associate, Analyst, or a related role. Requires three (3) years of experience with: financial analysis of equity securities; equity valuation assessment using discounted cash flow and relative valuation approaches; assessment of cashflow profile and debt indicators evolution; balance sheet, cash flow, and income statement accounting and investigation; writing communications on market trends; communication with clients, investor relations teams, and senior management; actionable investable ideas; statistical analysis of stock price movements; thematic and cross-sector investment ideas; modeling of the electricity industry supply and demand; financial and asset modeling of power plant generation types including fossil, renewables, and hydro; creating utility company financial forecasts; and power market dispatch curve modeling and analysis.
